Barron County (Press Release) - On Tuesday 8-28-12 at 9:34 p.m. the Barron County Sheriff's
Department received a call of a head-on crash on 16th Street near 8th Avenue
just south of Barron with multiple injuries.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff's Department, the
Barron Fire Department, Lakeview Medical Center Ambulance, Mayo Ambulance, Chetek
Ambulance, Dallas Ambulance and 2 Life Link Helicopter were dispatched to the
scene.
Upon arrival it was discovered that 2 trucks had struck
each other head-on. The driver of one of
the trucks had fled the scene. Three people in the truck that was traveling north
on 16th Street were all extricated and flown out. The driver of this truck was Cory Gesler, 19, of Barron and his passengers were Jesse Gesler, 12, and John Gesler, 14, both of Barron. All have serious but non-life threatening injuries. Cory was flown to Luther Hospital and Jesse and John
were flown to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
A search was then conducted for the driver of the
other vehicle by Barron County K-9 Deputies and the Barron Fire Department and the
driver was not located.
The next morning at 9 a.m. the Barron County Sheriff's
Department received a call that the driver of the other truck was Landon Cole, 20, of Chetek and he was on his way to the Barron Hospital. Landon had serious non-life threatening
injuries also.
This accident and cause of it are still under
investigation by the Barron County Sheriff's Department.
