Eau Claire (WQOW)- Three people are charged after trying to steal an art sculpture in Eau Claire.
David Burish, Beata McClelland and Mitchel Swinburne were arrested after a traffic stop early Friday morning.
Police were called to Barstow St. after someone saw a group of people stealing an art sculpture outside Acoustic Cafe. The group put the sculpture in the trunk of a car and drove off. Police were able to find the vehicle a short while later.
"It is the property of someone else, it is also something that makes our community look good, having the statue tour and some of those things is an attraction to the city of Eau Claire and it's unfortunate when some people want to damage or do things to take away from that," says Officer Kyle Roder, Eau Claire Police Department.
All three face felony theft charges. They'll be in court later next month.
