Eau CLaire (WQOW) - Over a thousand people laced up their shoes to race for a good cause today.
The 30th Annual Buckshot Run was held in Carson Park early Saturday morning. The race featured two and five mile options, with the money raised benefiting the Special Olympics. 1,300 people signed up between the two races.
"People love the cause; people love the course. We have an amazing trail system here in Eau Claire, so they love being out on it. And it's just that family friendly atmosphere. They know they can bring their kids, their kids can participate. We'll have people that drive here from out of state that just know Labor Day weekend, they're coming to Eau Claire, they're doing the Buckshot," said Special Olympics Director of Development Karen Kraus
Kraus said the goal is to raise $65,000.
