Door County (WQOW) - The
unusual weather this spring and summer could put a damper on fall colors.
The peak season for fall colors is
usually the beginning of October. But the National Weather Service says the
color change is happening earlier than normal, due to the drought. The weather
in the next couple of weeks will play a big part in the vibrancy of the colors
and exactly when they will peak.
"The colors are
probably not going to be as bright as we typically see the leaves may fall off
sooner than we typically see," says Erin Brown, with Peninsula State Park. "When
some people get stressed they lose hair, trees lose leaves which means a lot
less on the branches to turn all those beautiful fall colors."
Despite fewer leaves and potentially
less vibrant colors, Wisconsin
is still rated as one of the best places to experience fall, and brown doesn't
think it will put a damper on tourism. The peak is still expected to be in the
beginning of October

WAUSAU (WQOW) -- Fall color season up north could be in jeopardy because of the drought.
Experts say a lack of moisture in the air is causing leaves to dry out and drop early. That means the fall colors people drive to Wisconsin's Northwoods to see every fall, won't be as vibrant this year.
Forecasters say the farther north you go, the better your chance to see the fall colors.
