UPDATE: Golf Road reopened after being shut down due to fire

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A grass fire shuts down part of a busy Eau Claire road.

Part of Golf Road had to be closed around five o'clock Monday night because of smoke from the fire. Crews were concerned that the smoke was a traffic hazard because it was so thick. The road was closed for an hour and a half as firefighters put out the flames. About half to three quarters of an acre was burned. The fire department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire police say part of Golf Road is shutdown due to a grass fire. There are reports of at least two fires in the areas. Crews are working to put out the fire right now. Our reporter on scene says the fire is near the McDonalds by the Golf Road bridge over the Highway 53 bypass. We will bring you any information as it comes in on air and on our website.
