Eau Claire (WQOW) - Tuesday, the Eau Claire YMCA takes a step forward in an effort to sell land.
The YMCA got a thumbs up from the city's plan commission for its request to annex a large parcel of land to the city of Eau Claire from the Town of Washington. The YMCA owns 50 acres of property on the west end of Lorch Avenue, just south of I-94. They made this request because they have a potential buyer.
WQOW News 18 doesn't know who that buyer is, or how much the land could sell for, but the YMCA has said they would use money from the sale to help build a new facility.
The Y has been raising funds for a number of years in hopes of re-locating to the corner of Menomonie Street and Clairemont Avenue. The annexation would have to be approved by the city council.
