More charges in farm implement thefts

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Another charge is filed against the suspect in the thefts of more than $100,000 worth of equipment.

Terry Kelly, of Amery, is now accused of stealing a tractor and front-end loader, along with a mower deck. The items, valued at $25,000, were stolen from a New Richmond implement dealer four years ago.

Kelly also allegedly stole expensive skid steers and lawn tractors from dealerships in western Wisconsin and Minnesota. He told investigators he usually drove up to the dealerships while they were open during the day, hooked up the equipment and drove away. He said he used a white truck because that's what most implement dealers used,  and he figured he would not be noticed.

Criminal cases against Kelly are pending in St. Croix and Barron counties, and he was recently convicted of multiple thefts in Polk County.
