Eau Claire (WQOW) - A
loophole gives a western Wisconsin inmate a head-start at escape.
The St. Croix County sheriff says Jesse Marske never came
back to jail Friday morning from his court-ordered work release. Marske was on GPS monitoring, but had cut the device off and left it at the factory when he
arrived at work Thursday afternoon. He wasn't discovered missing until he
failed to return to the jail 12 hours later.
When it was cut, the device sent
an e-mail to the jail's Huber officer, but he wasn't on duty at the time. The
sheriff says the software only allows them to send it to one e-mail address. He
says they have been aware of the issue and have been trying to find a solution.
Marske
was scheduled to be released next month after serving four months for
disorderly conduct and failing to pay child support. Marske also has a 2007
sexual assault conviction.
Anyone
with information on where he might be is asked to call the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office at (715-386-4701).
