St. Croix Falls (Press Release) - On Friday, September 7, 2012 at approximately 11:25 a.m. the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting the robbery of the Eagle Valley Bank, at 102 N. Washington Street in the City of St. Croix Falls.
The bank employees reported that shortly after 11:16 a.m. a female wearing a yellow safety vest, a baseball cap and sunglasses, entered the bank and showed a note to the teller advising of a robbery and ordering the teller to give her money. There was a threat of a weapon, but no weapon was seen by the teller.
The teller complied with the woman's demands and the woman then immediately left the bank. The woman left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Bank employees called 911and were able to provide a description of the woman as well as a description of the car that she left in, driving south on Washington Street.
A St. Croix Falls Police Department sergeant, who had been advised of the robber, saw the vehicle turn onto U.S. Highway 8. He initiated a traffic stop and was able to take the woman into custody without further incident.
The woman is identified as Tanya Kay Anderson, 39, of Stanchfield, Minn. At this early stage, Anderson is being booked into the jail for armed robbery and a Polk County warrant for issuance of worthless checks. The warrant was issued in 2008.
The stolen money as well as other physical evidence was recovered from the vehicle.
The joint investigation of the bank robbery continues by the St. Croix Falls Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the FBI. The same bank was robbed March 2, 2012. No one has been arrested in that robbery.
