Hudson (WQOW) - Plans for a new school at a former Hudson dog track hit a major setback.
Thursday night, the city's planning commission voted unanimously to recommend the city council deny a request to rezone the site for the new school.
Commission members expressed concerns about losing tax revenue from the site. The commission also pointed out that putting a school there is not consistent with the city's comprehensive plan which calls for commercial use.
The commission also felt the increased traffic to the school would cause havoc at the intersection of I-94 and Carmichael Road.
The city council has final say on the re-zoning request. A vote is set for September 17th.
