Menomonie (WQOW) -- Despite having to wait a week because of its schedule, the UW-Stout football team looked impressive in its season opener Saturday.
The Blue Devils shut down Jamestown College, winning 31-0 in front of the home crowd at Williams Stadium. The offense looked in mid season form, racking up 453 yards of offense in the win.
"I think it was big for our school in general. We had a big turnout of fans and when you win games and win them handily, you're going to have that support. It kind of showed the hard work that we put in. You know, we came in a week later to camp, and you couldn't tell. The defense came out, the offense kept plugging away and we just got the job done," says senior defensive back Billy Rosenthal.
UW-Stout is back at home next Saturday against North Central College.
