Blugolds regroup after second tough loss

Eau Claire (WQOW) -- It certainly hasn't been the start to the season the UW-Eau Claire football team was expecting. For the second straight week, the Blugolds lost a three-point game in front of the home crowd.

Eau Claire allowed a touchdown right before the half and quickly trailed by as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter. The team was able to cut that deficit to three points with a minute to go, but was unable to recover the onside kick. With a bye this coming week, the team says it's time to circle the wagons.

"You're 0-2 and there's no easy way out of it except to work harder. And really everybody in the program needs to look in the mirror and see how they can get better and that's what we have to do this week," says coach Todd Glaser.

"We just have to believe in each other right now and come to work every day," adds junior running back Joel Sweeney. "This next week is going to be important to get ourselves back together and let this be in the pass and move on to the future."

Eau Claire has the bye before playing a non-conference game against UW-Platteville.
