Lake Wissota (WQOW)- Area veterans and community members joined together to remember the heroes of September 11, 2001.
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 1038 held a ceremony on Lake Wissota on Tuesday afternoon, where they dedicated a flagpole at Ray's Beach. The flagpole is in honor of local veterans and also those who lost their lives during the 911 attack.
"It honors all those veterans, all those people who have served their country honorably over the years and I'm sure in the town of Lafayette there's hundreds of veterans that live here and it just means a lot to them that we have the flagpole dedicated to them here," says Leroy Jansky, Chippewa VFW Post 1037.
After the flagpole dedication the flag was lowered to half staff to honor those killed in the September 11 attacks.
