MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are looking for a suspect who stole $50 out of an elderly man's wallet.
Madison police say the theft occurred Tuesday evening around 6:50 p.m. outside of the Walgreens on the 2900 block of East Washington Avenue.
Officials say the victim, an 80-year-old Madison man, was walking into Walgreens to buy mouthwash when a stranger approached him. The suspect held out his driver's license and told the elderly man that he was in Madison visiting a relative, but needed $10 to get back home to Milwaukee.
The victim took out his wallet and when he opened it, the suspect grabbed a $50 bill and ran away.
Madison police describe the suspect as a black man, 30-40 years old, 6'3" to
6'6" and 200 to 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with
gold lettering on the front, jeans, and a necklace similar to a rosary.
Anyone with information on this incident or can identify the suspect should call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
