Janesville man arrested for pointing gun out window


JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A Janesville man is arrested after authorities say he pointed a gun at another vehicle Friday night.

Janesville Police officer were dispatched to a report of an armed subject in a vehicle on the Milton Avenue circuit around 9:53 p.m. Friday night.  The witness said that a male driving a green Honda Civic pointed a black semi-automatic handgun out of the window at his vehicle.

The witness was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect and vehicle to the police.  Authorities said they located the suspect vehicle minutes later on Hawthorne Avenue and performed a high risk traffic stop at the intersection of Harmony Circle and Rutledge Drive.

Officers detained the driver and passengers.  Authorities said two semi-automatic handguns and a billy club were recovered from the vehicle.

Authorities identified the driver as Kyle G. Cliver of rural Janesville.  He was arrested on charges of 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct while armed with a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. Officials said Cliver admitted to pointing the gun out of his window.

Officials said Cliver was held at the Rock County Jail pending an initial appearance in court.

Authorities said the witness and his passengers were unharmed.  The witness was transporting a child and friends to a sleep over in Janesville.
