Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The UW-Eau Claire football team was off last Saturday, and will be off this Saturday as well.
The Blugolds will head to UW-Platteville to play a non-conference game on Thursday.
It's not the typical college football schedule, but it gave UWEC a chance to get back to basics last week at practice. This week, the Blugolds began prepping for the Pioneers. Eau Claire players say one good thing about the schedule is that they've been able to put their two losses behind them.
"Preparation during our bye last week was good," says UW-Eau Claire junior running back Joel Sweeney, "we worked hard, you know, got everything done that we needed to, and now it's time to prepare for Platteville this week and get down there Thursday night."
Junior safety Coltan Ellis says, "We're getting back in the groove of things, they were tough two losses, but we had a hard week of work during the bye week, we feel like we're going to come out pretty strong for this next game."
UWEC's game at UWP (2-0) kicks off at 6:00 P.M., Thursday.
