Study: Adult obesity rate in Wis. could reach 56.3% by 2030

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKOW) -- By 2030, more than half of the adults in Wisconsin may be obese, according to a new study by Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The study uses government data on obesity to make predictions about our weight in coming years. Researchers say Wisconsin's adult obesity rate could climb to 56.3 percent. In 2011, about 28 percent of adults in the state were obese, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Nationally, by 2030,13 states could have adult obesity rates above 60percent, according to the study. Some health experts question the accuracy of this research, saying it's difficult to predict future weight trends accurately.
