Eau Claire (WQOW) - UW-Eau Claire is spreading the
message about recycling in a unique way.
This afternoon, students dumped
trash outside Sutherland Hall. They then began sorting through it. The goal is
to draw attention to the amount of garbage thrown out in residence halls that
could have been recycled instead.
"I think it shows
that we're willing to get down and dirty to actually show them what they should
recycle. We're doing a lot of evaluation to see which activities are the most
helpful in helping students learn more about how to live green," said UWEC
Housing Sustainability Coordinator Kate Hartsel.
During the spring semester, UWEC
will hold another trash sort to see if students have changed their habits.
