Eau Claire (WQOW) - Every dog has his day. One man is hoping the smallest of dogs will have their own special place in Eau Claire.
The city was approached by a man who wants to donate money to add a space at the Otter Creek Dog Park, just for small dogs. The donor would like to remain anonymous but says the space would be in memory of a friend, and animal lover, who passed away last month.
Tuesday, stakeholders in the park were invited to share their thoughts.
"My dogs get along with the big dogs and they don't mind it but I'm sure they would like to come out here and just be with the little dogs," says Eau Claire resident Rex Olson.
Eau Claire resident Pat Williams says, "I don't like the idea, at all, of losing space. Nine acres is not a big dog park when you only have one and this is a well used space."
There were a couple of different options discussed Tuesday. Eventually, the stakeholders agreed the best option would be to create a long narrow space, up to an acre, for small dogs.
It must be approved by the Waterways and Parks Commission. If it is, construction would likely start in the spring.
