Eau Claire (WQOW)- Western Wisconsin residents have a unique opportunity to weigh-in on DNR policies.
Next week the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board will be in Eau Claire for it's monthly meeting.
The board sets policy for the DNR and will hold a public listening session on Tuesday. It starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn and Convention Center and then on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. the board will hold its regular business meeting.
One of the items up for discussion are the restrictions on the use of dogs while hunting wolves. The board will also visit a sand mine operation while they are in the area.
"Sand mining has become an issue of great interest to a lot of folks and we're sort of here in the epee center of sand mining in Wisconsin. We do have quite a few sand mining and processing operations around here so the board is going to take this opportunity to while they're in Eau Claire to go out and visit both a sand mine and a sand processing center so they can just have a face on look of what that's about," says Ed Culhane, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The meetings are open to the public but anyone hoping to comment will need to register. The deadline is Monday at noon. If interested, contact Laurie Ross, NRB liaison, at 608-267-7420.
