Oktoberfest celebrates 10th anniversary

Posted:

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - It's a milestone year for an annual festival in Chippewa Falls.

On Friday the Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest kicked off their 10th year with the tapping of the golden keg. But don't worry if you haven't made it out yet, there is plenty of beer to go around. The event features three beer gardens, all with live music, including of course polka!

"When we first started planning for Oktoberfest we were somewhat surprised to find out that about 76 percent of Chippewa County is German. So the community has embraced this because I think it is a celebration of their German heritage," says Jill Herriges of the Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce. "Plus, to have an active brewery right down the hill just puts it right in our back pocket. It makes it a perfect match."

If you are looking for some classic German meals, there are 15 different vendors to choose from.   The event runs through Sunday.
