UPDATE: Charges filed in Fairchild stand-off

Posted:

Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Charges are filed in a weekend domestic dispute that led to the SWAT team being called to a Fairchild residence.

Joshua Peterson was charged Monday. He's accused of domestic abuse battery and possessing drugs with intent to sell them.

On Friday night witnesses told deputies that they could hear a woman screaming for her life and could see the silhouette of a person repeatedly hitting another person inside Peterson's mobile home. Neighbors said the attack lasted for at least half an hour, and that they heard a man say "Do you want me to stab you?"

Both the man and woman eventually came out of the home and Peterson was arrested. Officers say they found marijuana and prescription drugs in the home along with guns and knives. They say Peterson admitted he had been selling marijuana for months.

Fairchild (WQOW) - An alleged hostage situation in Fairchild ends peacefully.

It happened Friday night around 9:30. The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department got a call of a domestic dispute at a trailer on Camp Road in Fairchild. The caller reported that a man had pulled a woman inside a trailer at knife point. The Eau Claire County SWAT team was called out, along with the county's armored vehicle. Neighboring trailers were evacuated after several attempts to contact the male and female inside.

"As the tactical team was coming down the road, both the male and female exited and the officers told them to put their hands in the air. They complied, and they were taken into custody at that point with no altercation whatsoever," said Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer.

The 19-year-old suspect's name is not being released. The woman, his 23-year-old girlfriend, was not injured. The suspect was arrested, and is expected to be charged with disorderly domestic dispute among other charges. The sheriff says guns and a knife were found inside the home. The sheriff's department is still working on the case. More information is expected to be released later.
