ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) -- A man is dead after a roll over crash in Rock County on Sunday. Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff's Office, police, fire and EMS all responded to the scene.

Police say the one-vehicle crash happened on S. STH 213, north of West Lang Road in the Town of Spring Valley. The beige 1997 Buick LeSabre was found with power lines draped over the vehicle and smoking in the ditch. The car had hit a utility pole. Thirty-two-year-old Sean Waterman, of Brodhead, was partially ejected and pinned underneath the roof of the vehicle. The passenger, 26-year-old Douglas Axelson, of Brodhead, was trapped in the passenger seat of the vehicle, with his seatbelt fastened.

Police say Waterman was driving northbound very fast when he lost control at the curve in the road. The vehicle crossed over the road, hit a driveway and went airborne. The vehicle finally hit a utility pole, rolled over, and came to a stop in the ditch. Axelson died at the scene. Waterman was airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital via REACT helicopter. He is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Waterman has been arrested for Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle, Operating After Revocation Causing Death, 3rd Offense OWI, Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Control of Vehicle and Failure to Fasten Seatbelt. Waterman will have a mandatory appearance in Rock County Criminal Intake Court on October 16.
