SEATTLE (WAOW) - In week three, the Green Bay Packers will take on the
Seattle Seahawks Monday night at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.
According the Green Bay Packers Dope Sheet, the
Packers have won six of the last seven games against the Seahawks. That includes
two playoff wins.
The Packers will
see some familiar faces. Seahawks back up quarterback Matt Flynn played four
seasons in Green Bay. He was expected to start this year with Seattle but Coach
Pete Carroll named former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson as his
starter. Wilson was the Seahawks third-round draft pick this year.
The Seahawks head into Monday night's
game with the fewest yards passing of any team in the NFL through two weeks.
While it's a small sample size, the lack of numbers from the passing game is
drawing some concern about whether the Seahawks can throw down field with
success if it's needed.
So far,
Wilson and Seattle's offense haven't needed to throw extensively because of its
success running the ball. Marshawn Lynch ran for 122 yards last week against
Dallas, part of the 182 yards rushing by the team. But Wilson and his receivers
are confident they can throw it if needed.
Meanwhile Seattle's Coach Pete Carroll has been studying his
former college player, Clay Matthews. Carroll coached Matthews at the University
of Southern California where Matthews didn't start until he was a senior. In a Seattle Newspaper, Carroll is quoted as
saying that he didn't realize how talented Matthews was until his last season as
a Trojan.
