Eau Claire (WQOW) - A job fair Tuesday aimed at connecting
mature applicants with potential employers.
The Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce held its 13th
annual Age of Opportunity Job and Volunteer Fair at Oakwood Mall. Vendors
offered a variety of options, from volunteer work on up to full time employment
for older people looking to re-enter the workforce. Organizers say this year
they noticed a jump in attendance.
"The majority of
the people I've spoken to today have been laid off from their jobs, and they're
looking for work. I think that the economy says a lot about today, and the
increase in numbers of people that are looking for jobs," said Liz
Anderson of Senior Citizens Employment.
Over 20 employers from the Chippewa Valley were on hand today. In addition
to picking up applications, visitors could also learn about resume building and
tips for job searching.
