Local celebrity art auction raises $35k for non-profit

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Big money was brought in for a local non-profit when amateur artists put their work on the auction block.

In total, $35,000 was raised for the Children's Museum of Eau Claire.  20 local celebrities stepped out of their comfort zone to become artists. One piece of artwork fetched up to $2,700. It was a ceramic piece by four doctors from Mayo Clinic Health System. The fan favorite went to two 8th graders from Regis, Paige Daniels and Grace Annis, who submitted a painting.

The first ever celebrity art auction raised more than $20,000. That money, along with the money raised Tuesday night will be used to help complete the expansion of the museum to the second floor with exhibit space.
