MADISON (WKOW) -- Police say the search for a place to live led to a sexual assault charge against a Madison man.
According to Madison Police, a 26-year-old female woman looking for a room to rent responded to a posting on Craigslist.
She eventually met the man who posted the ad, 39-year-old Esmeregildo "Tito" Armendarez III, at a restaurant. She told police she brought a friend for security purposes, but that her impression was that Armendarez seemed to be on the up-and-up.
Police say she went to the man's home on the 400 block of Blackbird Lane Thursday night to inspect the room that was for rent, and that is where he groped her. She fled and contacted police.
Armendarez was arrested on a tentative charge of 4th Degree Sexual Assault.
