Eau Claire (WQOW) - With winter right around the corner, a local hospital is helping area citizens bundle up.
Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire handed out over 3,000 cold weather items from their coat drive today. Items for people of all ages and sizes were available. Winter coats, hats, gloves, and blankets were all given to anyone from the area in need.
"We reach out into the community, not just the hospital. We realize that there are people out in the community that have other needs, and this is just part of our hospital, our colleagues, our volunteers, and part of the community helping us make a difference," said Sacred Heart Hospital Director of Volunteers Mary Pengra.
St. James Elementary and Regis Catholic students also collected and donated items for the drive.
