Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The 90th edition of the 'War on 94' did not disappoint, with UW-Eau Claire knocking off UW-Stout 21-13 to pick up its first win.
The Blugolds got a huge game from senior quarterback Austin Neu. With the Blue Devils taking away the running game, Neu stepped up throwing for 181 yards and picking up 93 on the ground. More importantly, he had a hand in all three of Eau Claire's touchdowns.
"It's a great job by him of controlling the clock with his legs," says UW-Eau Claire head coach Todd Glaser. "He's a great competitor and he's always been that way. He does a great job of leading our team."
"Holes just opened up and I decided to scramble, but when we did design runs (Joel) Sweeney made great blocks and our line got a good push and we were able to gain yards on it," adds Neu.
UWEC hits the road to take on UW-Oshkosh next Saturday. UW-Stout looks to bounce back against UW-Stevens Point.
