Barron County (Press Release) - October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. On average three women in America die each day as a result of domestic violence. One in four women and one in 13 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
In Barron County alone, our Domestic Abuse Advocate has handled 366 cases in 2011- that is over 1 victim per day. These statistics are even more sobering when we consider that domestic violence often goes unreported.
Citizens need to report these incidents and help others report these incidents because being abused once is too many. We as law enforcement leaders urge you to report any incidents of domestic violence to us and encourage others report it.
Please contact your local law enforcement agency or call 911 to report these incidents because one is too many. Together we can make a difference!
