Eau Claire (WQOW) - Cooler weather is in the forecast and soon many of us will reach for the thermostat.
Area counties started accepting applications Monday for energy assistance. Chippewa and Dunn counties are expecting more applicants this year, apparently due to the sluggish economy. Eau Claire County's human services department expects demand to be similar to last year, when 4,000 households received energy assistance.
Income limits are similar to last year. To qualify for assistance, a
family of four must have a gross income of less than $3,900 a
month for three months.
Family size: Monthly income limits (before taxes):
1 $2024
2 $2646
4 $3891
Applications are being accepted Monday through Thursday at the Eau Claire County Courthouse. Chippewa County residents can only apply on Tuesdays at the courthouse. And in Dunn county you must make an appointment with human services.
