Taylor County (WQOW) - An inmate in the Taylor County jail is dead and the sheriff says it's been ruled an apparent hanging.

Jailers found 21-year-old Jesse Holz of Owen hanging from a sheet in his cell Friday night. Jailers did CPR but could not revive him.

Holz was arrested a week ago for criminal damage to property and violating a harassment restraining order. The sheriff says he was not on suicide watch.

No foul play is suspected but the Rusk County Sheriff's Department has been asked to investigate. The state jail inspector is also reviewing the case.
