Eau Claire (WQOW)-The
dry, windy weather is keeping firefighters busy and on Tuesday there was no
exception.
The fire danger in west-central Wisconsin is listed as
high. The rest of the state is
considered moderate.
On Tuesday
afternoon crews were called to a grass fire in the town of Tainter
in Dunn County.
Earlier in the day crews in Chippewa
County were needed at a grass fire
south of Stanley. Because of the conditions a burning ban has
been issued for all of Chippewa
County. That means no fires are allowed except for
cooking.
"We've been out on three grass
fires over the last 18 hours or so, Boyd fire just had one and called Stanley over. So
conditions are getting right and we'd prefer not to have to go out and try and
chase these versus better weather conditions and allowing people to burn,"
says John Andersen, Chippewa Fire District.
The ban
will be in effect until the fire danger drops to moderate or low in the county.
