Eau Claire (WQOW) - October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Tuesday there was a focus on that in Eau Claire.
The Bolton Refuge House hosted a "Day of Unity", an event for the Eau Claire community to learn more about the shelter. There was a silent auction, a raffle, and a candlelight vigil in honor of domestic violence victims.
Pat Stein, the Executive Director of the Bolton Refuge House, says, "One thing I have learned in doing this for as long as I have done it is, victim services is a very small piece of the pie, and we cannot do what we need to do without the support of community members and agencies and organizations, we really need a holistic approach to address the needs of victims."
There was also an open mic opportunity where victims could share their story. The money raised will help support programs and operations at the shelter.
