Possible revisions to state endangered species list

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Department of Natural Resources wants your opinions and suggestions on possible revisions to Wisconsin's endangered species list.

Wisconsin wildlife officials are considering adding eight plants and animals to the list and removing 16 others. The agency is inviting businesses, developers, scientists and citizens to submit comments on the changes' economic effects through October 24.

Among the species the DNR wants to take off the list are the barn owl, the snowy egret, bog bluegrass, hemlock parsley and yellow giant hyssop. Proposed additions include the black tern, Kirtland's warbler, the beach-dune tiger beetle and the fawnsfoot mussel.
