Prescott grocery store cooks up record bratwurst

Prescott (WQOW) - An area grocery store celebrates one hundred years, by serving up a record sized bratwurst!

Ptacek's IGA cooked and served up a 52-foot two inch bratwurst yesterday. The grill was made out of cinder blocks, and the brat had to be carefully turned every couple of minutes. The brat was then gently transferred to a 52 foot bun, to complete the record meal. On hand to confirm that the records had been broken were several town officials including the police chief.  Pat Ptacek who helped organize the event thanked the community for their support in coming out and participating in the world record.

"it's like we are the little engine that could, Prescott is the little engine that does and it is just an amazing place for us to live and own and business, it's a unique situation that I don't think that we could ever duplicate if we went anywhere else," says Pat Ptacek, owner of Ptacek's IGA.

The brat was then cut into foot-long pieces, and handed out to the crowd. According to Ptacek his grocery store spent about $20,000 cooking and organizing the event, all money that they hope to recoup with the taking of the world record and people who showed up to support.
