Madison police investigate possible child enticement

MADISON (WKOW) -- Police are investigating a possible child enticement case that occurred over the weekend on Madison's south side.

Madison police say a 14-year-old girl told authorities a stranger driving a maroon, 4-door, Ford Taurus tried to get her to come over to his vehicle while she was walking near Lake Point Drive at Fayette Street early Sunday evening.

Officials say the suspect slowed down and turned his car around two times in an effort to talk with the girl.

Police say the suspect wanted to know how old the victim was. She ignored him and hurried to a nearby convenience store to call a family member to come and pick her up.

Madison police describe the suspect as a black man in his late twenties or early thirties, with medium build, a beard and lighter complexion.

Anyone with information on this incident should call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
