Rice Lake (Press Release) - On Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at 12:23 a.m. the Rice Lake Police Department was called for a residential burglary in progress on the city's north side.
The homeowner called 911 advising she interrupted the burglary and provided the suspect's identity and description. While attempting to call 911 the suspect swung the caller around in an attempt to take the phone causing the caller to strike her head on a shelving unit. The suspect fled on foot and was located by officers in the vicinity of his residence.
The suspect, a 43-year-old man, was taken into custody and transported to the Barron County Jail for burglary, battery, theft from a building, and criminal damage to property pending formal charges by the Barron County District Attorney's Office. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.
