Report: Cedric Benson Out At Least Eight Weeks

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (WKOW) - The news continues to get worse for the Packers. According to ESPN, running back Cedric Benson will miss at least eight weeks and possibly the entire season with a foot injury.  Benson suffered a Lisfranc injury in the Packers loss to the Indianapolis Colts. If doctors determine he needs surgery, Benson could be out the entire year.

Benson is scheduled to undergo further evaluation and doctors will be examining the MRI that the running back already has taken, according to sources.

Benson signed a one-year contract with Green Bay last summer. The 29-year-old Benson has rushed for a team-leading 248 yards in five games this season.  His injury makes Alex Green the Packers starting running back for now. Brandon Saine and James Starks will likely see more playing time as well.
