Korean War vet laid to rest 6 decades later

Appleton (WKOW) - The family of a soldier from Appleton laid him to rest more than six decades after he left for war.

Monday, dozens of people honored private first class Arthur Hopfensperger with a graveside service with full military honors. Hopfensperger was 18 years old when he was killed in battle during the Korean War, but his body was never recovered.

Arthur's remains were discovered by a North Korean farmer on his property more than seven years ago. But it took that long for excavation, tests and to positively match his DNA to his cousin's. Now his family says it finally has closure.
