Osseo (WQOW)- Authorities in Osseo have been busy fighting multiple fires this week and believe two of those fires may be suspicious.
The Osseo Rural Fire District says it's responded to three different fires this week. A fire broke out in the basement of an Osseo home Wednesday morning. Officials believe an electrical malfunction is to blame. Responders also fought a brush fire that burned more than 20 acres on Sunday. Then another fire started at a cabin near that brush fire early Wednesday morning around 1 a.m. That cabin didn't have electricity. Authorities believe the two fires could be linked.
"The proximity of the two fires and the fact that we couldn't explain what started either fire just raises a red flag," says Osseo Rural Fire District Chief Nels Gunderson. "We like to know what causes what we deal with and it is just an issue we just don't want to let get away."
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has joined the case. Authorities say they will continue to investigate.
