CHIPPEWA VALLEY (WKOW) -- A prominent Eau Claire doctor has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy.
Dr. David Van de Loo is a pediatric and sports medicine specialist in the Chippewa Valley area.
According to the criminal complaint, the boy told investigators he saw Van de Loo in August for a routine sports physical. The boy said Van de Loo sexually assaulted him three times. The doctor told investigators he did it as part of an exam.
The Mayo Clinic Health System issued a statement saying the results of an internal investigation were surprising and deeply troubling. Van de Loo was placed on administrative leave the day the allegations surfaced. His employment has now ended with the company.
Van de Loo will be in court on Thursday.
