Eau Claire (WQOW) - An area man is sentenced for defrauding an elderly disabled woman out of her life savings.
Thomas Trubshaw of Cornell was accused of borrowing $23,000 from the woman, but never paying her back. He allegedly said he needed the money to pay his taxes and because his elderly mother had health problems.
But investigators learned his mother was in fine health, and that Trubshaw never paid his taxes. He was sentenced Wednesday to a month of jail and community service, and must repay the money.
