Eau Claire (WQOW) - Four local Assembly races shared the spotlight in Eau Claire on Thursday night.
Seven candidates came together for a forum. The candidates in the 67th, 68th, 91st and 93rd Assembly answered questions about Act 10, job creation, sand mining and recent cuts to higher education funding. "We had the third largest cut to the universities in the United States ever. We need to maintain our education," said Judy Smriga, (D) 68th Assembly candidate. "The last administration took, or should I say stole, all of their program funds from UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse. We are not going to steal funds anymore. We are going to balance the budget. We are going to move forward and we are going to educate our kids," said Rep. Kathy Bernier, (R) 68th Assembly incumbent.
WQOW News 18 streamed the event on our website, but we also taped it for you in case you missed it. We plan to air the forum at a later date.
