Hudson (WQOW)-Representative
Tammy Baldwin made a stop at the Democratic Party Office in Hudson on Friday along with Minnesota Senator
Amy Klobuchar.
During her visit she talked to
volunteers at a senior-to-senior phone bank about the importance of Medicare
"I was raised by my
grandparents so I got a chance as a young person to see the value of both
Medicare and social security to our family's economic security. I believe that
they're not just programs they're promises and they're promises that I will not
break," says Representative Tammy Baldwin.
While in western Wisconsin she also spoke about job creation
in the state and the need for a focus on manufacturing.
"We're a state that makes
things and yet manufacturing has seen real challenges as paper mills have
closed, factories have shut down, we've seen jobs go over seas," says Baldwin.
Baldwin talked about the need to
bring jobs back to America.
"In manufacturing we also need
buy America
policies. If we're going to be using U.S.
tax dollars for our defense and our homeland security we ought to be supporting
U.S. jobs with those U.S. tax dollars," says Baldwin.
"I'm not just focusing on manufacturing, it's a big part of our economy
but the health of our agricultural sector is as important, if we're going to
build an economy built to last we need to make the basic investments in
education, research and infrastructure."
Tommy
Thompson was also in western Wisconsin
earlier this week.
