Madison Opera Presents Verdi's Masked Ball


MADISON (WKOW) -- The opera season is underway in Madison Wisconsin! You can get your tickets now for one or all of the upcoming shows.  The season gets underway the Verdi's A Masked Ball. 

The production will run on Friday, October 26 and Sunday, October 28 at the Overture Center for the Arts. In Verdi's lush opera, based on the real-life assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden, the King's love for his best friend's wife becomes an instrument of murder. Illicit love, a fortune-teller, a masked ball, vows of vengeance, and thrilling music make up this rich theatrical tapestry, as the King is conspired against and ultimately betrayed by his most trusted friend.

Madison Opera is a non-profit professional opera company based in Madison, Wisconsin. Founded in 1961, the company grew from a local workshop presenting community singers in English-language productions to a nationally recognized organization producing diverse repertoire and presenting leading American opera singers alongside emerging talent. A resident organization of the Overture Center for the Arts, Madison Opera presents three productions annually in addition to the free summer concert Opera in the Park and a host of educational programming.
