Madison (WQOW) -- For various reasons, Montee Ball's senior season at Wisconsin certainly got off to a slow start, but Ball's Heisman Trophy Award campaign been gaining momentum as he continues to gain yards, especially after a career day at Purdue.

It may come as a surprise that Ball has 816 rushing yards through seven games, which is more than he had at this time last season, when Ball wound up as a Heisman finalist.

Ball says he hopes he's in the Heisman conversation, but he plans to steer clear of the hype...

"Most definitely need to stay away from reading up on myself," Ball says, "I'm only human, but like I said I felt great.to finally get back and play with my team and do the right things on the field that gets ourselves victories. I most definitely wasn't playing my best football at the beginning of the season, but it's finally started to click with me, I think I just finally started just trusting everything."

Ball has scored eleven touchdowns this season, with eight of those TD's coming in the last three games.

Ball and the Badgers host Minnesota, Saturday.
