Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Eau Claire Regis is getting ready for its third straight trip to the WIAA State Girls Team Tennis Tournament.
The Ramblers will take part in the Division 2 semifinals Saturday morning at the Nielsen Tennis Center on the UW-Madison campus. Wednesday night, they're getting in a workout at the YMCA Tennis Center.
Regis players say being familiar with the venue at state helps their mental preparation.
"We're still kind of nervous when we get down there," says Regis senior Sarah Clark, "but since we get to make it to individual state first, that kind of calms our nerves for team state."
"We're kind of seen as the underdog but we really like that title," according to Ramblers senior Emily Sailer, "because the expectations aren't as high but we still go in it to win it, and get some matches."
"When you get down there a couple of times," says Regis head coach Kyle Seyer, "the nerves and the butterflies kind of go away, but you know, it's still a big environment, it's still where the Badgers play, and you know, it's still an interesting and neat place to make it down and play at, so there's definitely going to be nerves, but after the first couple games the nerves go away and it just gets back to playing regular tennis."
The Ramblers face University School of Milwaukee in a Division 2 semifinal at 9:00 A.M., Saturday.
