Pepin County lengthens frac sand moratorium

Posted:

Pepin County (WQOW) - A county will be given more time to study frac sand.

On Wednesday night, the Pepin County Board of Supervisors approved a six-month extension of the county's moratorium on frac sand mining.  Currently, the county is under a one-year moratorium that will expire in December.  A number of towns felt an extension was needed to help them come up with regulations for frac sand operations.

Wednesday's decision extends the moratorium through the end of June.
