Wisconsin-based Trek drops support of Armstrong

WATERLOO (WKOW) -- Wisconsin based Trek-Bicycle Corporation is dropping its support of cyclist Lance Armstrong.

This news comes with a string of other dropped sponsorships, including Nike and Anheuser-Busch,

In the announcement made Wednesday, Trek officials say they were disappointed by the evidence of drug use by the seven-time Tour de France champion released by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency some time last week.

The Waterloo-based company had voiced its support for Armstrong in August, praising him for his "remarkable contributions to the sport of cycling and the fight against cancer."

Trek says it will continue to support his cancer-fighting charity Livestrong Foundation, from which Armstrong also stepped down.

Armstrong has denied doping.
